EVRC Rules and Regulations

These rules apply to all events that Ellen Valley Riding Club organise, arrange or are connected to in any way, unless stated otherwise on the entry form relating to that particular event.

*Riders participating in Riding Club activities do so at their own risk.

*The club and any persons acting on behalf of the club do not accept liability for any accident, loss, damage, illness or injury to ponies, horses, riders or spectators.
*If you have any issues, complaints or problems please speak to a member of the committee either verbally or in writing and forward to the club chairman.
*The committee, whose decision is final, will consider the grievance at the next committee meeting.
*If you wish to take part in an EVRC members’ event you must be a fully paid member before the event takes place.
* League points will not be awarded retrospectively 

*Entries to an event must be paid in full by the closing date.
*The organiser has the right to refuse entries, cancel or amend classes or groups.
* Money will not be refunded, carried forward except in exceptional circumstances and cheques will not usually be banked until after the event has taken place.
*All horses must be at least four years of age for all ridden events however for our showing shows please see the schedule for confirmation on age.
*No stallions or colts over the age of one are to take part in any event.
*All horses must be sound and in good health for them to carry out their duties with ease.  
*Anyone found to have an animal at an Ellen Valley Riding Club event who is not in good health will be asked to leave.
*We do ask horses are not left unattended.

Competitors must wear the correct dress for each discipline.
*All riders must wear a riding hat when mounted and a body protector when needed.
*Hats and body protectors must be up to the current safety standard.  The club will be tagging hats to ensure they meet the new safety standard (please see below for clarification).  
*When taking part in cross country you must wear a hat which does not have a fixed peak.
*It is the member’s responcibility to ensure all equipment used is in a good, safe condition and suitable for the purpose it is intended for.
*Whips must be of a minimum of 45cm (18”) and maximum of 75cm (30”); excessive use of a whip or spur will not be tolerated.  
*Safety for horse, rider and spectators is of paramount importance.
* Any member of the committee may take any action deemed necessary in the interests of the safety during any club event.

Hat Standards

PAS 015 (1998 or 2011) and must have BSI Kitemark
VG1 01.040 (2014-12) and must have BSI Kitemark
ASTM F1163 (2004a or 04a onwards) and must have SEI mark
SNELL E2001 and must have SNELL label and number AS/NZS 3838 (2006 onwards) and must have SAI Global mark.

Body Protector Standards

A body protector is obligatory in all cross-country competitions and is strongly recommended in show jumping competitions. A BETA Level 3 (purple label) which has a 2000 or 2009 label must be worn. Body protectors should be fitted and worn as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

Any competitor who conducts his/herself in a manner in which is regarded as unacceptable by the committee will be required to leave the event immediately and may be denied membership and/ or admission to future Riding Club events.
